Manhasset

Geography and Layout

Manhasset is a hamlet in the Town of North Hempstead on Long Island's North Shore. It is bordered by Manhasset Bay to the west, Plandome to the north, Munsey Park to the east, and the Long Island Expressway to the south.

The community covers approximately 3.3 square miles and is centered around the Plandome Road commercial corridor.

Housing Stock

Manhasset's residential areas contain a mix of Colonials, Tudors, Cape Cods, ranch-style homes, and newer construction. Properties range from modest single-family homes near the village center to larger estates on the hills overlooking Manhasset Bay.

The Strathmore Vanderbilt section features mid-rise co-op and condominium buildings.

Transit and Access

• LIRR Manhasset station on the Port Washington Branch — approximately 30 minutes to Penn Station
• Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) runs through the hamlet
• Long Island Expressway (I-495) accessible at Shelter Rock Road
• Approximately 20 miles east of Midtown Manhattan by car

Commercial District

Plandome Road is the main commercial street, with local businesses, restaurants, and professional offices. The Americana Manhasset, an open-air retail collection, is located along Northern Boulevard at the southern edge of the hamlet.

Parks and Recreation

Mary Jane Davies Green is a central park along Plandome Road. Manhasset Bay offers waterfront access, and the community is near several North Shore preserves and nature trails.
